Account information: When you register, we collect your email address and, if provided, your name.

Usage data: We collect information about how you use the service, including word counts processed, features used, and session timestamps.

Text content: We process the Arabic text you submit to provide correction and enhancement. Text is processed in real time and is not stored permanently unless you explicitly save it.

Voice recordings: When you use dictation, your microphone is recorded only while you hold the record button. The audio is sent to our speech-to-text provider to produce a transcript, processed in memory, and is never written to disk or stored by us. We retain only the resulting text and the number of seconds recorded, which counts against your voice allowance.

Payment information: Payments are processed by our payment provider. We do not store full card numbers — we receive only a payment token and transaction confirmation.

Technical data: We collect browser type, device type, IP address, and access logs for security and performance monitoring.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your submitted text to train our AI models without your explicit consent.

We share your data only with:

• Clerk — authentication and session management
• Our own Tebyan backend — account, usage and billing records live in a PostgreSQL database we self-host, not with a third-party database provider
• Payment providers — to process subscription and pack purchases
• AI model providers — text is transmitted to AI APIs solely to fulfill your correction requests; these providers are contractually bound not to use your data for their own training
• Legal authorities — if required by law or court order

All third-party providers are required to protect your data and may not use it for their own marketing or training purposes.

We retain account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it.

Text submitted for correction is not retained after processing unless you explicitly save it to your account history.

The Tebyan browser extension runs on the pages you visit so it can offer correction and dialect translation where you actually write. What it accesses, and when:

Text you select or type: The extension watches for Arabic text in the field you are typing in, so it can offer to correct it. Text leaves your browser only when you ask for a correction, a translation, or a reading — by choosing an option from the right-click menu or the extension popup. It is then handled exactly as described in section 1 and is not stored after processing.

Pages you visit: The extension needs access to any page because Arabic can be written anywhere — email, chat, forms, internal tools. It does not read, collect, or transmit page content you have not selected, it does not record your browsing history, and it sends nothing anywhere until you act.

Your microphone: Only while you hold the dictation button, and only after you grant permission. See "Voice recordings" in section 1.

Local settings: Your preferred dialect, correction mode and writing streak are stored in your browser's own extension storage on your device. They are not personal data we hold, and uninstalling the extension removes them.

The extension does not use advertising or tracking technology, and does not sell or share what it sees with anyone.

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and maintain session state. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

We may use minimal analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns. This data is anonymized and cannot be linked to individual users.

We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted database storage, and access controls. However, no system is completely secure — please use a strong, unique password for your account.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format)

Our service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the UAE and countries where our service providers are located. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through a notice on the service. Continued use after changes takes effect constitutes acceptance.
